In Loving Memory

of Tom & Deb Lizee

Rally Takes the Train was the brain child of author Kelsey’s Mom, Deb. Rally the Corgi joined the Lizee family in 2013 as Kelsey’s first dog and they visited her parents Tom and Deb often. Visits entailed frequent drives up the 5 freeway from San Diego to Orange County and Deb loved the idea of Rally being able to jump on the Surfliner up the coast to visit. Dogs weren’t allowed on the train, but the idea became a dream. Rally Takes the Train should be a kids book!

Rally eventually became Tom and Deb’s dog and the family lovingly joked they “stole him” after one too many grandpuppy babysitting sessions. Rally become Tom’s best friend and they had a daily routine.

Deb passed away on February 26th, 2021 in the COVID-19 pandemic before the dream of Rally Takes the Train could be achieved. In her memory, Kelsey wrote the story and found Leslie Dunn to bring the story to life. Tom was thrilled with the story and initial sketches and was preparing to record the audio book when he suddenly passed away 13 months after his wife Deb. Rally Takes the Train will now allow Deb’s idea and their love of Rally to live on forever.
